Unique Skin Care Products for March

Unique Skin Care Products for March

Most of you know by now, I’m obsessed with unique skin care products. I’m always looking for the latest and greatest cleansers, serums, and creams out there to add to my beauty arsenal to ward off the wrinkles, jowels, and crows feet that naturally occur over time. This month I had the opportunity to review out some really unique skin care products that are fairly new on the market and had never heard of before. But are they all just a bunch of hype?

Miss Landson Make Up Remover Cloth

I’m always looking for ways to save money. And one of the best ways to do this is by utilizing reusable products. So when I had the chance to try out this microfiber make up remover cloth complimentary for review from Tomoson, I was very interested.  This cloth is supposed to be used as an alternative to traditional chemical make up removers. You don’t even need to use a cleanser to remove your make up!

Miss Landson Make Up Remover Cloth requires no chemicals to take off makeup

According to the manufacturer this make up remover cloth:

  • Removes all of your makeup with just water, 100%, NOTHING LEFT
  • REMOVE EVERYTHING IN SECONDS — Removes mascara including waterproof mascara in seconds.
  • MACHINE WASHABLE UP TO 1000 TIMES USE — Machine washable and no stains remain ; Get a better skin and save the environment
  • CHEMICAL FREE — Chemical free finest soft & high water absorption cloth

No more make up remover?

Here are my thoughts:

I like the packaging. It comes in a nice plastic pouch with the logo on the front and the instructions printed on the back. When I removed it from the packaging I was surprised at how soft it was! It is super plush and feels just like a teddy bear.

You are supposed to immerse it in warm water before using. When I put it under the faucet, it actually takes a few minutes for the cloth to absorb the water. The microfiber almost repels it. It is kind of strange. But once you soak it, you are ready to go.

Using circular motions, just rub the wet cloth on your face. You don’t even need to wet your face first. Then the instructions tell you to flip the cloth over and use the side with the logo to exfoliate your skin. The only logo I saw was the tag, so I assumed that’s what they meant. But to be honest, I couldn’t really tell the difference between the cloth on either side. They felt exactly the same to me. I have created a little video to show you how easy it is to use this unique skin care product.

I had no trouble removing my makeup with this cloth. Even my mascara! It will come off on the cloth leaving makeup stains behind. Then you can just hang it up to dry. But you can just toss it in the washing machine and you are good to go for next time.

Pros:
1. Saves money. You don’t have to buy expensive make up removers.
2. Reusable. You can use it over and over again.
3. Machine washable.
4. Safe and gentle to use for all skin types.

Cons:
1. It will leave the cloth dirty. Unless you do laundry every day, you will have to use the make up stained cloth repeated times until laundry day.
2. Not certain it performs any better than an ordinary wash cloth would. But it certainly is much softer!
3. While this may seem silly, I don’t care for the color. Since you have to hang it up to dry, you will see it all the time. You might want to hang it in an inconspicuous spot in your bathroom.

Overall, I think it is a great value. Anything that saves money and works well is a winner in my book.

Glam Essentials Hello Cutie Facial Cleanser

After removing your make up you’ll want to wash your face. But there are so many different facial cleansers on the market, it’s hard to decide what to pick. For me, I have aging skin but still suffer from hormonal breakouts so I am always looking cleansers that can provide what I like to call “Dual Action”. This cleanser from Glam Essentials sounded cool because it has Jojoba beads for exfoliation and Hyaluronic Acid for aging skin.  So I applied for this promotion from Tomoson and received this cleanser free for review.

According to the manufacturer:

“You will know the difference from the time you squeeze the cleanser into your hand . You will notice the magic of the jojoba bead lifting the dirt from your pores and toxins from your face. You only need a small amount to achieve the best results. Unlike our competitors you do not need a quarter of the bottle for one application.

You will see noticeable results with your first application. Say “good bye” to dry skin that leave your skin looking dull and unattractive. This cleanser helps moisture stay locked while leaving dry skin out. The remarkable compound Hyaluronic Acid has also been added to combat the signs of aging while helping boost your collagen levels and pave the way for a younger and more vibrant you!

We’ve even added Niacinamide, which has been hailed as “Botox in a Bottle” by discerning doctors and dermatologists.”

Those are some pretty big claims! And they sound too good to be true, right? So let’s get into my honest product review:

The bottle is a good size. You get 6.7oz of product and you really only need a very small amount, so it should last quite a long time. The color is a creamy white and has practically no scent to it. I will admit while I don’t want anything overpowering, I like a little scent with my facial cleansers because I feel like it just brings a little more pleasure to the act of washing your face. But that is not a big deal since the most important factor is how well does it work?

The consistency is creamy but you can definitely feel the “grit” of the Jojoba Beads which is what you would expect from an exfoliator. The one difference between this and other exfoliators is that it is not super coarse or thick. What makes this a unique skin care product is that since the texture is very fine, you can use it as a daily cleanser as well. Dual action, Baby!

I have tried this product with a full face of make up and it definitely removed all my make up – even mascara. Even with the Jojoba Beads, it did not irritate my skin and left it squeaky clean with that hint of shine that you get from having super clean skin. Since you don’t need a separate exfoliator, it would be perfect in the winter when your skin tends to be drier. It has not caused me to break out, but because of the exfoliating properties and the combination of Hyaluronic Acid, those with sensitive skin might want to skip this product. For me, the product worked great. But since I am still using my current favorite facial cleanser (Charcoal Detox Cleanser from Michael Todd – one of my top 10 picks 2015) I will probably only use the Glam Essentials twice a week when my skin is on the flakier side.

Timeless Skin Care Facial Serum

I am definitely serious about serums! I use them daily in my constant battle with wrinkles and sagging skin. So when the lovely people at Timeless Skin Care contacted me to test out a few of their newest facial serums complimentary in exchange for my honest review, I was all ears. They said I could pick two to review, but they have such a wide variety of products, it was so hard for me to choose!

My biggest skin gripe (and yes, I have a lot of them) is trying to find products that will tighten and firm my skin while not exacerbating my acne.  So I went with the following two and here is my review of these unique skin care products.

Matrixyl Synthe 6 Serum

Timeless Skin Care Matrixyl Synthe 6 Serum
Timeless Skin Care Matrixyl Synthe 6 Serum

The first one I tried was Timeless Matrixyl Synthe 6 Serum. I have no idea what Matrixyl is but it sounded really high-tech so I looked it up –

Matrixyl, Matrixyl 3000 and Matrixyl synthe’6® are anti wrinkle formulas developed by cosmetic chemical manufacturer Sederma and is the name given for a series of anti-wrinkle actives that contain a specific peptide that can link to a matching cell-surface receptor (huh?). The benefits of Matrixyl Synthe 6 is that it is used to rebuild collagen to help reverse the signs of aging.

According to the manufacturer:

“Matrixyl S6 Serum contains Matrixyl® Synthe’6®, a powerful peptide that boosts six skin-rebuilding essentials. This anti-wrinkle complex helps reverse the signs of aging by stimulating six major constituents of the skin matrix and dermal-epidermal junction (collagen I, II, IV, fibronectin, hyaluronic acid and lamin 5). Evens out skin and smoothes wrinkles from the inside by rebuilding the skin where it is needed, particularly on the forehead and crow’s feet.”

Why have I never heard of this before?! Helps to repair crow’s feet? Now you’re talking my language!

This serum comes in a 1 fl oz bottle (20ml) and is clear with practically no scent. I put a dropper full in my hands, rubbed them together and applied the serum to my entire face. It dries really fast and clear. It does not leave the skin feeling greasy. Anyone who uses serums as part of their regimen knows that it takes quite a while to start seeing the results.  I used the product for 2 weeks and I am very happy with it. My forehead wrinkles seem less noticeable and my crows feet are also a little lighter. It makes my skin feel soft and smooth and hasn’t caused any break outs.

Timeless Skin care offers 3 different serums with Matrixyl in them. I found this really great article here which explains the difference between the different types of Matrixyl formulas to help you decide which product is right for you.

Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum

Timeless Skin Care 20% C + E + Ferulic Acid Serum
Timeless Skin Care 20% C + E + Ferulic Acid Serum

This serum is very different from the last one I tried.

According to the manufacturer:

“Contains Vitamin C, an antioxidant that evens skin tone and helps build collagen. Also contains vitamin E and Ferulic Acid, used to extend the life and effectiveness of vitamin C. We use a 20% concentration of L-ascorbic acid for maximum benefit. Our product is guaranteed fresh and effective for 3 months.”

This serum also comes in a 1 fl oz bottle (20ml) and has a very subtle mediciney smell. It is not overpowering. You don’t need to use a lot – only about 2-3 drops. It is a little bit stickier, but it dries really fast and clear with no greasy feel. This product is supposed to help shed old skin as the Ferulic acid speeds up the exfoliation process. It is perfect for lightening and evening out skin texture and erasing dark spots and freckles.

I have noticed that several of my freckles appear lighter and it makes the skin feel more taught. You will need to use a sunscreen and/or moisturizer in conjunction with this product. It is not recommended for oily skin since it contains vitamin E which can cause break outs in some people. However I have not had any issues with breakout since using this product on my combination skin. I did notice that it was a little difficult to wash off of my fingers however, as it is quite sticky!

This product has a very short shelf life of about 3 months. You can store it in the refrigerator to make it last longer. But you can use this in conjunction with the other serum to reap the benefits of both products. Use the 20% C serum first to help exfoliate and even out skin tone, then once it dries you can apply the Matrixyl for plumping and firming.

You can purchase 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum on the Timeless Skin Care website for around $25

Be sure to check out all of the Timeless Skin Care products. They have so many choices, it will make your head spin! They even have a Pure Line with singular ingredients such as Pure Hyaluronic Acid and Pure Argon Oil for creating your own personal blend of skin care for under $10. How cool is that?

Do any of these products appeal to you? What brand of cleansers or serums are you partial to? Leave me a comment and let me know!

These are unique. I didn’t about any of them until now. I think I like the cloth best, but it is bright.

    • Yeah, isn’t that cloth a weird color? I wish they could have made it in a shade that would compliment most bathrooms. Even white would have been better. Thanks for your comment!

You shared a lovely selection of beauty products. I like that your review was balanced too. I might look into the facial wash with Jojoba, as I’m always on the look out for products like that.

  11. The reusable makeup removal cloth is such a great product! I don’t wear makeup often and the makeup removal wipes tend to dry out before I get a chance to use them again, so a washable cloth sounds great.
