No, you’re not lost. Enjoy Freebies is becoming Cheap & Cheeky!

Cheap & Cheeky! Just a hot mess living better on less

I’m still the same goofy and frugal blogger, but with a new name, new host, and a whole new site.

Little by little, I’m redirecting my links. So if you’re poking around here and it looks like your browser has been hijacked, don’t worry – it’s just me.

I’ll be posting all brand new content at my new domain CheapandCheeky.com and moving over many of my old favorites.

Here’s the deets…

What the hell am I doing?

Honestly, I never had any intention of starting a blog. Originally, I was just trying to find ways to score free stuff.

But one of the freebie sites (Influenster) I was working with required that you post a blog review on the products.

So in July of 2014, I set myself up with a free blogspot account and got to work.

Over time I discovered that I really enjoyed writing product reviews and loved talking about all the ways I got freebies.

How to Get Free Stuff from Amazon

I was riding on a freebie-induced high and wanted to show people how they could get free stuff too!

And then I learned that maybe I could actually make a little extra cash by monetizing the blog. But to do that, I needed to get a real website with a real domain name.

That’s how Enjoy Freebies was born. At the time, I thought it was the perfect name. So perfect that I used it on all of my social media and even my YouTube channel.

This was my brand, dammit!

Enjoy Freebies is no longer a good fit.

For the past 2 years-ish, the freebies have been dying off.

All my favorite sites like Influenster and Bzz Agent just haven’t been selecting me for campaigns anymore.

Since I have entered my 40s, I think maybe I’m no longer their target demographic.

But that’s okay. Some of these sites require a lot of work and it’s not worth it for a bottle of shampoo that I’m only going to use once.

I had to do a lot of work in exchange for some of these freebies.

I also used to get a ton of free shit from Amazon too. But in 2016, Amazon changed their policy and it does not allow you to review free products anymore.

Although I still get daily offers to review stuff all the time, I really don’t want to waste my time on junk. So I’m super picky.

I’m still doing product reviews, but now when I review a product, I look for things my readers and YouTube viewers would enjoy.

Plus if I’m going to take the time to write a blog or shoot a video, it either has to be super cool and affordable, or something useful that can make life easier for us lazy asses.

Although I may make an exception for products to help me look younger because I’m all about that life these days.

Why the complete move?

A few months ago, I was working on the blog and I started having lots of issues out of the blue.

I was getting locked out of my site and encountering lots of time out errors.

I assumed that since I don’t really know what I’m doing, it was probably something that I did.

So when I called my host for their help, they said it was a plug in and if I wanted additional assistance, I would have to pay a specialist $50 an hour to fix it.

I couldn’t even log into my dashboard.

Screw that. I would rather try to find a way to do it myself than have to shell out money for a specialist.

I disabled and uninstalled plugins and themes, but still it wasn’t working. I couldn’t even log in to my dashboard.

Then one day, I randomly searched for my site on Bing for some reason.

And that’s when I noticed it.

My url was attached to adult pages that I did not create!

I was hacked. My heart sank and I wanted to cry.

I also have a feeling that my pics are probably now on a bunch of foreign dating sites.

But at least now I knew why I was having so much trouble with my site.

My host wanted me to shell out extra cash

Unfortunately, my host was absolutely no help. Unless I wanted to spend $300 to have them clean up my site.

I didn’t have that kind of dough, so I just went with a monthly security plan instead.

Thank goodness, the site is now clean, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth.

Therefore, I decided that I just needed a clean start with a new host and a new name.

Why Cheap & Cheeky?

I just think this describes me to a tee.

Cheap & Cheeky is all about getting more out of life on a budget with little effort and lots of attitude.

In addition to product reviews, expect to see more rants & rambles, and easy life hacks for those of us who can’t afford to hire help.

And since I can’t afford to hire help either, I’m doing this all on my own little by little in my very limited spare time.

Please, bear with me!

I’m sure there will be some hiccups as I make this move and it’s actually really scary.

If you see broken links, missing images, or errors, please know that I’m working on it.

I’m not super tech savvy so I’m learning as I go.

Please feel free to email me if you find any errors you think I should know about. Sometimes things look different on my screen than it does on yours.

I expect to have everything moved over by May 2019 if not sooner because in May, EnjoyFreebies.com will go bye bye.

I hope you’ll stick around with me for the ride.

See you at Cheap & Cheeky!

And hopefully someday Facebook will stop being a dick and let me update the name there too.

This will be my last post on this site. Sayonara!
