Who really needs pee proof underwear?

Do you accidentally pee when you sneeze, cough, or exercise? You may be one of the millions of women who suffer from Incontinence a.k.a. Overactive Bladder. But incontinence doesn’t only affect old people. It can affect women (and men) of any age.  Here are the most common forms of incontinence:

Incontinence can affect anyone of any age.
Urinary incontinence can affect anyone of any age.

Stress incontinence (the most common) is involuntary and occurs with stress on the bladder when engaging in physical activity. Seriously, what mom hasn’t sprung a little leak when picking up their kid?

Then you have Urge incontinence which is when you always feel like you have to go to the bathroom. For some of us, this makes taking long road trips super scary. Have you ever worried about when you are going to find the next bathroom or rest stop? I don’t know about you, but I have had to pull over and use a bush from time to time.

And finally we have Overflow incontinence. This happens when our bladders don’t empty properly, and small amounts dribble escape involuntarily. This is more common in men than women, but it can happen to anyone.

But thanks to science,  there are many different types of products available for people with incontinence, ranging from pads, to adult diapers, and now even underwear!  So what’s all the fuss about pee proof underwear? Let’s find out!

Here are the ones I tried…

Wearever Underwear for Women

Wearever Cotton Classic Underwear for Women
Wearever Cotton Classic Underwear for Women – on the model

This was my first time trying out pee proof underwear so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had my choice of Women’s Cotton Comfort Incontinence Panties in beige or white, and I chose the white color. I wear a size 6 in pants, so I went with the medium size.

Comfort: The material is 50% cotton/50% polyester and they feel like a Jersey T-shirt. It features a sewn-in, absorbent “Unique-Dri” pad. And boy is this pad thick! It feels kind of like those cloth diapers that babies wore before disposable diapers were a thing. My grandma always kept them around to use as dust cloths after the kids were grown.

But I had an issue with the elastic. They cut into my butt and my ribs – yes, I said ribs (keep reading). I found myself constantly adjusting them throughout the day. So I can’t say they were all that comfortable.

Style: These underwear are HUGE! I don’t understand why they have to be so big. You guys, the waistband almost comes up to my bra. And because they are so big, they are ugly and they make me feel ugly. I’m almost too embarrassed to show you the photos. But I like to keep it real, so here goes…

And here's how Wearever Cotton Classic Underwear look on me...
Here’s how they look on me…Where’s my belly button?

My second issue is with the pad itself. It is very wide and it leaves a gap inside between my hoo-ha and the panties. I prefer my underwear to sit right up against my lady parts. I’m not talking camel-toe action, but just enough to know that it’s there.

And while I want to know that it’s there, I don’t want to be constantly aware of it – like when I’m walking. Because the pad is so wide, I could feel it move when I walked. They weren’t noticeable under tight jeans since the jeans kept them in place, but that waistband though.

Wearever Underwear are so big!
Is this REALLY necessary?

Effectiveness: They worked well against leakage. I had no issues with wetness with these underwear but because of the light color, they could be subject to staining. I think they would work just as well if the waistband weren’t so dang high. In fact I found myself rolling them down just to make them a little more comfortable and to make sure they don’t show under my pants.

Maintenance: They can withstand 200-250 washes in the washing machine. No special instructions required.

Final Thoughts: Wearever Underwear comes in several other different styles, so I’m sure there is something to fit everyone. While this particular style wasn’t for me, I would consider wearing them on days when I think I’m about to start my period – just in case. I feel pretty confident about that.

If you are a women who likes full coverage underwear with light to moderate leak protection, you may like these a lot!

You can find Wearever Women’s Cotton Comfort Incontinence Panties on Amazon from $14-$17 (depending on size) and learn more about the other incontinence products they have available at

Conni Women’s Classic Briefs

Conni Women's Classic Incontinence Underwear
Conni Women’s Classic Underwear

This is another style of full coverage incontinence underwear for light to moderate bladder loss. The waterproof barrier extends from the front waistband to the back waistband for maximum coverage.

It can hold up to 12fl oz up to 4 hours so it’s not only good for stress incontinence, it is also great back up for light menstrual flow days. They are available in pink, black, or beige. I got the black style in a size US size 8 (one size up from my usual pant size).

Comfort: They are pretty comfortable. While I’m not really a fan of high waistbands, these landed below my belly button. And while they are not shape wear, I felt like the padding inside helped to keep my tummy slimmer. The elastic was a little tight against my tummy, but it could have also been that slice of pizza I had for dinner.

They are made of 95% cotton and 5% elastane and are soft and stretchy. They hug the body and stretch to fit. The barrier inside is breathable but doesn’t have any PVC. It feels kind of like microfiber, so it is very soft and you don’t even notice that there is a fixed pad in there.

Conni' Women's Classic Underwear remind me of the 1940's.
Conni’ Women’s Classic Underwear look a little retro but with a modern twist.

Style: I think they are cute! They almost look like vintage underwear from the 40s.

Effectiveness: They work great! I did not notice any leaks or wetness at all. Not even when I took them off. They stayed dry all day.

Maintenence: Machine washable and tumble dryer safe

Final Thoughts: I thought these were really cute and comfortable. I would not only recommend them for daily wear, but I would also feel confident wearing them in the middle of my cycle (during that fun ovulation week) as well as during my period for added back up.

You can find Conni Women’s Classic Underwear on Amazon for around $17. Also available at

 Conni Women’s Active Briefs

Conni Women's Active Underwear in Pink
Conni Women’s Active Underwear in Pink

The Conni Active Briefs are designed for light bladder loss. They can hold up to 4fl oz over 4 hours. They are available in pink, black, and beige. I got these in the black US size 8.

Comfort: They are made of 95% Cotton and 5% Elastane and are super comfy! They remind me of yoga pants only a little thinner. What mom doesn’t love her yoga pants?

The pad is only on the bottom and feels like a soft, light terry-cloth towel on the inside and is completely unnoticeable on the outside. The elastic doesn’t bother me at all – probably because of where the top of the waistband hits.

Conni Women's Active are so cute and comfy!
Conni Women’s Active are so cute and comfy!

Style: I think these are really cute. They almost fit like hot pants or boy shorts at the hips, but not quite as long. I even feel a little sexy in them, and that’s saying a lot when talking about pee proof underwear!

Effectiveness: I feel super confident when wearing these. They stayed dry the entire day until I took them off at night.

Maintenence: Machine washable and tumble dryer safe

Final Thoughts: These are my favorite out of the bunch. I think they are cute, comfortable, and effective. I recommend them for daily wear and would be perfect to use for exercise.

Good for you for opening up about an issue many people are scared to discuss! I’m sorry but I couldn’t help but laugh out loud when I saw the picture and you said they came up to your bra!

    • Right?! Aren’t they ridiculous? Lol!

  2. Oh you made me chuckle! That first set of pants – they are rather huge aren’t they? I wonder why!? Great post though, a very amusing and informative read on a serious topic.

  3. It’s great to see that you opened up the issue. Urine incontinence is a sensitive subject but this can happen to everyone. I’m positively surprised to see that pee proof underwear comes in different styles.

  4. I know some people who could use these. I’m sure I’ll eventually need them too!

  5. akboyington1984 akboyington1984

Definitely an issue that women should NOT shy away from…it’s so common, what is there to be ashamed of? I laugh about it…and then pee some more 😛 But for me to wear these undies, they’d have to be way cuter. I am not a fan of granny-style panties, and that’s what these reminded me of.

    • Yeah the first pair are really granny style! The last pair are pretty cute though especially for those who need a product like this. Of course they are not for everyone. Thanks for your comment!

  6. Nice to see someone talking about this issue. A lot of people get too scared! Hopefully this post helps people!

  7. Helpful posts. People shouldn’t be too concerned about these issues and learn to deal with it.

  8. cvnxena cvnxena

it’s definitely a manageable condition that some people shouldn’t feel ashamed about so well done for being so open and discussing it! I could have done with these after having my son and cesarean!

  9. Shane Shane

Hmm I wonder why they have to be so high on your stomach. The active ones look like a better option for those who deal with this issue!

  10. What a good post about something sensitive to discuss. It is sad that this happens to people. It can be very embarassing. My 91-year gran has this issue. Yes she is elderly, but no matter what age, this can bring stress. Good on you for covering this. I pray that I won’t need these if not ever, for a very long time. <3

I don’t experience LBL… yet… but I know it’s an issue that many women go through! Thankfully, there are cute options like this that makes the issue less embarrassing. – HilLesha

  12. Debra Debra

Oh my word, those top ones are a little crazy. They are more like a high waisted bikini than a pair of underwear!

  13. I’m glad you went there! Not only only people need protection, it can happen to young women too for a variety of reasons

  14. Terri Steffes Terri Steffes

I loved your “where’s my belly button” comment. I am sure this is something some people need. I know that this would be embarassing so I am glad there is a product to help those who need it..

  15. Kim @ Kim @

I needed this in my 2nd trimester. I was always peeling and changing. It was horrible!

  16. Wendy R. Wendy R.

The first pic – with the big panties sticking up from your pants, lol!! I like the middle ones best – the classic? I think? There’s a lot of us, with MS/neurological issues that have a need for solutions like these panties!!

  17. This is awesome! I think my granny will like this. However, while I’m still young I prefer to train my body to pee on time. Don’t want my body to depend on this.. but probably I need it handy for my granny 😀

  18. Super interesting. Thanks for informing us about these products! I’ve definitely been curious but haven’t taken the plunge yet. I wonder if they make a maternity version?

  19. Ok this was too comical but so true at the same time! As mom after having kids a simple cough or sneeze makes pee haha

  20. I think this needs to be talked about. I have never actually seen one of these in real only online. I never knew there was such variety. It is great for those who need it.

  21. Jeanine Jeanine

Where were these when I was pregnant? I could have really used these and I’m pretty sure I will in the near future, they look great!

  22. tiarasandheels tiarasandheels

This is one of those topics no one wants to discuss, but it happens to many and so nice you are showing there is a way to help!

  23. Haha you are so funny. I definitely don’t need this but I am sure that a lot of women find it useful and are glad that a product is out there for them!!!

  24. Char Char

I definitely love any kind of underwear that is in black. Thank you so much for the great offer!

  25. It sounds like a nice solution for women especially those who experience bladder leakage often. This will definitely make us feel more confident throughout the day!

  26. I love how yoy decided to discuss this. I think this should be something to talk about. The basic idea is brilliant but they need to find a way to make it usable and comfortable enough for women too. The later pictures are better i guess compared to the first one.

  27. This seems really great for those of us who have this issue. Its nice to be able to still feel confident and not worry about it!

  28. The effectiveness of these may be great, but I have to agree about the size. It appears that everyone would know that you were wearing something “special” under your clothes.

  29. I agree thank you for opening up and talking about it. I love that there are so many options.

  30. I’m sorry, but I had to laugh at the first underwear, hideous! But, I like the fact that these underwears doesn’t look like diapers. #ProductReviewParty

  31. Wow I didn’t know they made anything like this past the disposable underwear they sell in the store. The third pair looks super cute but the first…OMG! Seriously. Great review.

  32. I appreciate your candor in posting photos of yourself and talking about this subject!

  33. Michael Michael

I love that your honest and you give others the ability to be comfortable

  34. I’m all about pee proof underwear. I do a lot of high intensity interval training and ALWAYS pee myself. I actually keep depends in my closet just for that purpose.

  35. AlwaysReiding AlwaysReiding

This is a great review on a product that can help so many with a problem no one wants to talk about. I did laugh with the ‘granny panties’ but I appreciate that you took one ‘for the team’ and gave us an honest review!

I love hearing from you...
